Walmart plans a large fulfillment center in Pa

Walmart has unveiled plans for a huge fulfilment facility in central Pennsylvania, which the firm claims would result in the creation of up to 600 permanent full-time employment in the region over time.

The store, which will be located in Franklin County’s Southampton Township near Shippensburg and have a total floor space of 1.8 million square feet, is expected to open sometime this spring.

The company’s fulfilment centres hold millions of goods that are then chosen, packaged, and sent directly to consumers, as opposed to the company’s distribution centres, which store and distribute merchandise to Walmart shops around the country. The business said that the new centre is part of a larger effort to increase capacity in Walmart’s supply chain in response to the rise of the eCommerce industry.

According to Walmart, the state of Pennsylvania is home to seven distribution hubs and 160 retail locations, employing more than 60,000 people.
